Atul Greentech Private Limited, Valeo India, and Honda Power Pack Energy India (HEID) have come together to launch an innovative range of electric three-wheelers featuring a quick battery swapping technology. The goal of the collaboration is to enhance the efficiency of electric vehicles by reducing the time required for battery recharging.
Combining HEID’s advanced battery technology, Valeo’s compact powertrain, and Atul’s experience with electric three-wheelers, the companies aim to create a sustainable and efficient solution for urban transport. This project is expected to help increase EV adoption across India, reduce emissions, and contribute to cleaner mobility in the region.
The newly introduced MOBILI SWAP and ENERGIE SWAP vehicles, designed for passenger and freight use, offer certified ranges of 79 km and 74 km per battery exchange, respectively. These vehicles aim to reduce operating costs and improve operational efficiency in both cargo and passenger transport.
With the ability to swap batteries in just a few minutes, fleet operators can experience increased vehicle uptime, reduced maintenance costs, and greater competitiveness while advancing toward a more sustainable future. This collaboration highlights the commitment to environmental innovation in transportation.
Vijay Kedia, Director of Atul Auto, stated, “Swappable battery systems will transform the electric vehicle market. They will boost revenue by removing the need for lengthy battery charges, and a wide network of swap stations will address range concerns. Since the battery remains company-owned, customers will benefit from reduced vehicle prices and fewer warranty-related issues.”
Valeo, a leader in 48V systems, has introduced a fully integrated 48V electric powertrain system in India. This technology is aimed at making electrification more affordable for small vehicles, including two- and three-wheelers that are crucial for first- and last-mile deliveries. Valeo provides a comprehensive range of electric propulsion systems, serving both urban mobility solutions and high-end vehicles like sedans and SUVs.
Jayakumar G, Group President and Managing Director of Valeo India, remarked, “This partnership between Valeo, Atul Greentech, and Honda Power Pack Energy India combines the necessary expertise to drive the electrification of three-wheelers and reduce carbon emissions. With our advanced electric powertrain technology, customized for the Indian market, and strong engineering and local manufacturing capabilities, we are well-positioned to support the growth of this market.”
Honda Power Pack Energy India is innovating electric vehicle charging with a swappable battery system that eliminates long recharging times. HEID’s stations allow for the rapid exchange of empty batteries with fully charged ones, making the transition to electric vehicles easier by reducing the issues of range anxiety and limited infrastructure. This technology is expected to boost the adoption of electric vehicles by providing a simple, efficient solution for drivers.
Dr Tomohide Haraguchi, Vice President of HEID, stated, “Our swappable batteries, developed with Honda’s extensive experience in four-wheel vehicle technology, combined with Valeo’s advanced powertrain technology, offer an automotive-grade solution for the electric three-wheeler market.”
Atul Greentech, a division of Atul Auto Limited, has built on the company’s 30-year legacy as a leader in three-wheeler manufacturing. Established on January 28, 2020, Atul Greentech specializes in the production of electric three-wheelers. The company’s commitment to innovation and sustainability, supported by investor Vijay Kedia, strengthens its position in the electric vehicle industry.
