Atul Greentech announced on Wednesday that it has entered into a partnership with Exide Energy Solutions (EESL) for the supply of lithium-ion batteries. Under this agreement, Atul Greentech Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of Atul Auto, will obtain lithium-ion battery packs from EESL’s manufacturing facility in Prantij, Gujarat. Additionally, Atul Greentech will procure cells from EESL once production begins at its upcoming facility in Bangalore, Karnataka, according to the company’s statement.
“This memorandum of understanding not only enhances India’s self-reliance but also lays the groundwork for a sustainable and innovative future in electric mobility, propelling the nation forward,” stated Vijay Kedia, Director at Atul Auto Ltd.
Atul Auto, known for its three-wheelers, has a robust presence in both domestic and international markets, supported by an extensive dealer network. Meanwhile, AGPL focuses on developing and manufacturing electric vehicles for last-mile mobility solutions. EESL, a fully owned subsidiary of Exide Industries Limited based in Kolkata, was established in 2022 to produce lithium-ion cells, modules, and packs.
“This collaboration highlights the commitment of both companies to advancing the electric vehicle sector by ensuring a steady and reliable supply of lithium-ion battery packs and technology,” remarked Mandar V Deo, Joint Managing Director at EESL. Exide has also been a trusted supplier of batteries for Atul Auto’s conventional vehicle lineup, he added.
