Atlanta Electricals Limited has received approval from Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) to manufacture transformers up to the 400 kV class at its Vadod facility in Gujarat. The milestone has been achieved within two years of the facility’s groundbreaking, underscoring the company’s rapid execution and capability expansion.

The approval validates Atlanta Electricals’ readiness to enter the extra high voltage (EHV) transformer segment, subject to meeting final qualifying requirements and completion of a short-circuit test for 400 kV transformers. This development positions the company to participate in large-scale EHV tenders and significantly expand its market presence.

The Vadod facility had earlier secured accreditation from National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) for in-house testing of units up to 400 kV. Together, these approvals strengthen Atlanta Electricals’ technical capabilities and enhance its competitiveness in high-capacity transformer manufacturing.

Niral Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of Atlanta Electricals, said the approval reflects the company’s strategic investments in advanced manufacturing infrastructure. He noted that the facility is designed to produce high-MVA transformers at scale, which are critical for supporting India’s grid modernization and renewable energy integration.

The certification also aligns with India’s long-term transmission expansion plans, including significant capital expenditure aimed at strengthening the national power grid and enabling renewable energy evacuation. With these developments, Atlanta Electricals is well-positioned to capitalize on growing demand in the power and energy sector.

With over three decades of industry experience, Atlanta Electricals manufactures a wide range of transformers, including power, auto, inverter duty, furnace, generator, and special duty transformers. The company operates multiple manufacturing facilities across Gujarat and Karnataka.

As of December 2025, Atlanta Electricals has supplied more than 4,700 transformers with a combined capacity exceeding 1,07,000 MVA across India. The company continues to focus on delivering high-quality, reliable, and energy-efficient solutions to support the country’s evolving energy infrastructure needs. This latest approval marks a significant step in Atlanta Electricals’ growth journey, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, capacity expansion, and leadership in the high-voltage transformer segment.
