Ather Energy has unveiled an upgraded version of its 450S electric scooter, now featuring a larger 3.7 kWh battery pack and an IDC-rated range of 161 km. The new model is priced at ₹1,45,999 (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), offering better range at a more affordable price compared to higher-end variants.
The latest addition fills the space between entry-level and premium models in Ather’s lineup, appealing to riders who want a blend of extended range and spirited performance without stepping up to the top-spec 450X. Ravneet Phokela, Chief Business Officer at Ather Energy, said, “With this launch, we’re bringing long-range capability—previously available only on the 450X—to more riders. This variant is ideal for those who prioritize range and sporty ride quality over advanced connectivity and software features.”
The updated 450S retains the same design DNA as the rest of the 450 series, including a sharp silhouette and distinctive LED lighting. Despite the larger battery, the scooter keeps its compact proportions and continues to deliver agile handling.
It runs on the same 5.4 kW motor that delivers 22 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0 to 40 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. Top speed remains at 90 km/h. Riders can switch between four modes—Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, and Sport—depending on their need for efficiency or speed.
Until now, the 2.9 kWh variant served as the entry point into the 450 lineup, while the 450X offered the full performance package. The new 3.7 kWh 450S aims to strike a middle ground, offering the extended 161 km range in a more accessible package.
Like other models in the range, the new 450S is backed by Ather’s ‘Eight70’ warranty program, covering 8 years or 80,000 km with a minimum of 70% battery capacity retention. Buyers will also benefit from Ather’s growing service network and experience centers across the country.
Founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, Ather Energy has grown into one of the major players in India’s electric two-wheeler market. The company offers two distinct product lines: the performance-focused 450 series and the family-oriented Rizta range.
Ather was also the first EV two-wheeler brand in India to set up a fast-charging network, branded as Ather Grid. As of March 31, 2025, the company has installed over 3,600 chargers, including 33 units outside India in Sri Lanka and Nepal. In addition to product development, Ather holds a robust intellectual property portfolio, including 309 registered trademarks, 203 registered designs, and 47 patents, with hundreds more under application.
