Ather Energy is setting up its third manufacturing facility in Bidkin, Maharashtra, to produce electric two-wheelers and battery packs. This will be Ather’s first plant outside Tamil Nadu, where it currently operates two facilities.
The new Maharashtra plant aims to reduce logistics costs and speed up product delivery across India. Ather Energy currently has two manufacturing units in Hosur, Tamil Nadu—one for battery production and the other for vehicle assembly. To get closer to key markets and reduce costs, Ather plans to set up a new manufacturing plant in Maharashtra. The Tamil Nadu units will keep producing battery packs and assembling vehicles.
Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and CTO of Ather Energy, said, “With our growing product lineup and increasing demand for our scooters, we need a new plant closer to more markets in India. This will lower logistics costs and speed up deliveries. We appreciate the Maharashtra government for their support.”
Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra, said, “Maharashtra is a great place for business and investment. We are happy to welcome Ather Energy, making our state a top hub for automotive and manufacturing.”
The new facility will support Ather’s efforts to increase production, expand its product range, and enhance its retail and charging infrastructure. Ather currently has over 200 Experience Centres and 1900 fast chargers across India.
