Ather Energy, one of India’s leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers, unveiled its new EL platform at the third edition of Ather Community Day 2025. This marks the company’s first new vehicle architecture since the 450 and is designed for versatility, scalability, and cost efficiency, laying the foundation for a fresh generation of Ather scooters across multiple segments.
The EL platform has been built using insights from 26 lakh km of real-world data and features a redesigned chassis, powertrain, and electronic systems. It reduces component count for faster assembly, improves serviceability with longer intervals, and incorporates advanced safety features like AEBS (Advanced Electronic Braking System). It also introduces the Ather Charge Drive Controller, integrating motor and charging systems for greater convenience.
Alongside EL, Ather announced AtherStack™ 7.0, its biggest software upgrade yet, which adds voice-based interaction and AI-driven rider assistance. Features such as Pothole Alerts, Crash Alerts, ParkSafe™ and LockSafe™ security, along with remote controls for charging and shutdown, expand safety and connectivity. The update will be rolled out via OTA to existing Ather models, including Rizta Z and 450X Gen 3.
The company also showcased Redux, a concept moto-scooter blending scooter agility with motorcycle dynamics. Featuring adaptive ride dynamics, a lightweight frame, 3D-printed mesh seating, and Morph-UI, Redux offers a vision of performance and rider-machine integration for the future.
Other announcements included upgrades to the HALO smart helmet, a refreshed 450 Apex with Infinite Cruise™ for advanced cruise control, and updates to the Rizta Z, including full touchscreen functionality, Eco Mode, and a new Terracotta Red finish. Ather also introduced a 6 kW next-gen fast charger, twice as fast as the current model, with interoperability strengthened through partnerships under the LECCS standard.
As of June 30, 2025, Ather operates over 4,000 fast and neighborhood chargers across India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka, and continues to expand its leadership in the EV ecosystem with strong R&D and a growing portfolio of patents and trademarks. Founded in 2013 by Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain, Ather Energy is a leading Indian electric vehicle manufacturer specializing in high-performance electric scooters. Headquartered in Bangalore, the company has positioned itself at the forefront of India’s two-wheeler EV segment with technologically advanced products such as the Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus.
Ather scooters are equipped with smart features including touchscreen dashboards, smartphone connectivity, over-the-air updates, and enhanced safety systems. The company supports its product ecosystem through the Ather Grid, a proprietary network of fast-charging stations aimed at mitigating range anxiety and increasing user convenience.
Ather has adopted a direct-to-consumer sales model, operating its own experience centers under the Ather Space brand. This approach enables closer engagement with customers and greater control over sales and service quality. The company continues to scale production and expand its footprint across Indian cities while investing in new product development and charging infrastructure. With a focus on building a comprehensive electric mobility ecosystem, Ather Energy collaborates with domestic suppliers and invests in long-term solutions to support India’s transition to clean transportation.
