In a major step for Assam’s education and industrial sectors, the state government has approved a ₹240 crore project in partnership with Dassault Systems, a subsidiary of the French-based Dassault Group. This initiative aims to establish a state-of-the-art training hub focused on aerospace, defence, automotive, and electric vehicle technologies.
While speaking to the media in Guwahati on Friday, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced, “The state cabinet has approved a project where a division of Dassault, which specializes in technologies like Rafale aircraft, 3D printing, and next-generation innovations, will establish an aerospace and defence, automotive electric vehicle training hub in Assam.”
He explained that the initiative aims to attract the youth of the state to careers in aviation, defence, aerospace, and electric vehicle engineering. “The project is valued at ₹240 crore, with the company investing nearly ₹200 crore and the state government contributing ₹40 crore.”
Sarma also highlighted that the state had undertaken similar ventures in collaboration with Tata, which is currently being implemented in Assam’s polytechnic institutes. “A Centre of Excellence will be set up at Assam Engineering College in Guwahati, serving as the central hub. From here, around 50 colleges across Assam will be connected through a spoke model for training,” he added. He further emphasized, “The company is a global leader in AI, robotics, defence, and digital platforms, making it one of the top technology organizations in the world.”
