Optiemus Infracom has launched India’s first tempered glass manufacturing facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, powered by Engineered by Corning™ technology. Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw inaugurated the plant for Electronics & IT, I&B, and Railways. This milestone strengthens India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and aligns with the ‘Make in India’ vision.

India’s electronics production touched ₹11.7 lakh crore in FY24-25, making the country the world’s second-largest mobile manufacturer. With an initial investment of ₹70 crore, Optiemus’ facility will have an annual capacity of 25 million units in Phase 1, generating over 600 direct jobs. Phase 2 will expand capacity to 200 million units with an additional ₹800 crore investment, creating 4,500 jobs and catering to both domestic and global markets.

Speaking at the inauguration, Mr Vaishnaw said the facility highlights India’s growing strengths in advanced manufacturing. He emphasized that Indian companies must produce durable, high-quality products for global competitiveness and reiterated the government’s vision of building a USD 500 billion electronics manufacturing ecosystem.

The tempered glass segment offers significant opportunities, with India’s domestic market estimated at over 500 million pieces annually, valued at ₹20,000 crore, while the global market stands at USD 60 billion. Optiemus aims to position India as a reliable source of world-class tempered glass, reducing dependence on imports.

Ashok Kumar Gupta, Chairman of Optiemus Infracom, called the development a landmark for the Indian electronics industry. He said the company’s goal is to ensure every mobile user in India has access to BIS-certified, locally made tempered glass with fog marking, ensuring quality and screen protection for millions of devices.
