Ashok Leyland has secured an order from the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) worth ₹183.80 crore for the supply of 543 Bharat Stage VI (BSVI) diesel chassis and fully built buses. The order will be executed between June 2025 and December 2025.

The contract follows a competitive tender process and includes standard commercial terms, with no adverse conditions attached. Ashok Leyland also clarified that there are no interests held by its promoters or related entities in TNSTC, and the deal does not fall under the category of a related-party transaction. The news was disclosed to the National Stock Exchange (NSE) and the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE).

BSVI, introduced in April 2020, represents India’s emissions standards, comparable to the European Euro VI norms. The regulations are designed to reduce harmful pollutants such as nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter (PM), and hydrocarbons, ensuring a cleaner environment. To meet these stringent standards, vehicles need advanced engine technology and cleaner fuels.
