Ashok Leyland, the flagship company of the Hinduja Group and one of India’s leading commercial vehicle manufacturers, announced the launch of its latest compact engine platforms, the P15 (49 and 55 HP) and H4 Unipack (55 and 74 HP), at EXCON 2025. Fully compliant with CEV Stage V emission norms, the engines have been developed to deliver higher power output, improved efficiency and long-term durability for a wide range of industrial and off-highway applications.
The engines have been designed and manufactured at state-of-the-art facilities following global technology and quality standards. Their introduction marks another milestone in Ashok Leyland’s strategy to expand its presence in the construction and industrial power solutions segment. The products are on display at the 12th edition of EXCON, being held from December 9–13, 2025, at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre.
Speaking on the launch, Amandeep Singh, President – LCV, International Operations, Defence & Power Solutions, said the new engines were a response to evolving customer needs for stronger, more efficient and reliable powertrain solutions. He added that this development reinforces the company’s commitment to innovation and contributes to the national “Make in India” vision.
Sathyanandan M, Head – Power Solutions, said the new platforms reflect Ashok Leyland’s engineering strength and understanding of real-world operating conditions in the construction and industrial sectors. He noted that the engines are designed to integrate easily across multiple equipment types, enabling businesses to operate with greater confidence and productivity.
The P15 engine is intended for compact machines such as mini-compactors, skid-steers, sweepers and forklifts. It offers strong torque, reduced fuel consumption and is available in multiple configurations including a high-speed non-regulated variant and a CNG option. The H4 Unipack series is suitable for demanding applications like backhoe loaders, with features that enable reliable performance even at extreme altitudes and low temperatures.
At the event, Ashok Leyland also displayed several future-ready power solutions including hydrogen and flex-fuel engines, high-horsepower models for heavy applications, advanced exhaust after-treatment systems and diesel generator solutions. With decades of engineering expertise and a strong nationwide service network, the company continues to strengthen its position as a preferred powertrain partner for industrial and off-highway customers.
As India’s largest bus manufacturer and the fourth largest globally, Ashok Leyland continues to play a crucial role in shaping the future of public transport, both at home and abroad. This new order from TNSTU further strengthens the company’s leadership and commitment to innovation, reliability, and customer satisfaction in the mass mobility space.
