Ashok Leyland, part of the Hinduja Group, is aiming for record export performance this financial year, with plans to expand into key South East Asian markets. The company has already entered the Philippines and is preparing to launch in Malaysia, as well as targeting two additional markets in the region, according to Managing Director and CEO Shenu Agarwal.

“Our immediate focus is on South East Asia. We’ve recently begun operations in the Philippines and are close to launching in Malaysia, although regulatory updates have slightly delayed our timeline,” Agarwal stated.

Executive Chairman Dheeraj Hinduja noted that, despite economic challenges in Bangladesh, demand remains strong in the Middle East, where Ashok Leyland has expanded its product range, positioning the company for a high-performing year in international sales.

In response to queries, Agarwal described the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) markets as a “star performer” for Ashok Leyland, with new products set to be introduced in the region over the next 12 months.

Financially, Ashok Leyland posted a profit of Rs 766.55 crore for the quarter ending September 30, 2024, up from Rs 569.31 crore in the same period last year. Total income for the quarter was Rs 11,261.84 crore, with exports rising 14% to 3,310 units.
