Ashok Leyland, a leader in India’s commercial vehicle industry and part of the Hinduja Group, has launched ‘SAATHI,’ an entry-level premium Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV), at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in New Delhi. The vehicle was unveiled by Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel, Shri HD Kumaraswamy, alongside Ashok Leyland’s MD & CEO, Shenu Agarwal.

SAATHI is engineered to redefine the entry-level LCV category with its cutting-edge LNT technology, delivering 45 HP power and 110 Nm torque. It boasts a 24% larger loading area, a payload capacity of 1,120 kg, and superior fuel efficiency. The advanced LNT system eliminates the need for AdBlue, reducing operational complexities. Competitively priced at ₹6,49,999 for the FSD variant, SAATHI is backed by a 5-year/2-lakh-km warranty, ensuring reliability and value for customers.

Dheeraj Hinduja, Executive Chairman of Ashok Leyland, remarked, “With SAATHI, we reinforce our leadership in innovative commercial vehicle solutions, driving sustainability and addressing growing global opportunities. SAATHI represents our commitment to transforming road transport.”

Shenu Agarwal, MD & CEO, added, “SAATHI breaks the myth that entry-level commercial vehicles compromise on power, capacity, and features. It brings pride and profitability to operators, solidifying Ashok Leyland’s leadership in the commercial vehicle space.”

The expo unveiled the GARUD 15, India’s first multi-axle, front-engine 15-meter premium bus, tailored for long-distance intercity travel. This fully built vehicle boasts 42 sleeper berths, a spacious luggage compartment, and a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of 22,500 kg, enabling operators to maximize revenue. Equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), a driver monitoring system (DMS), and an ergonomic driver’s seat, GARUD 15 prioritizes passenger safety and driver comfort, setting a new benchmark in the intercity travel segment.

Another major highlight was the eTIRAN Electric Terminal Tractor, the country’s first electric terminal tractor designed specifically for port operations. It features a customizable battery range of 180-350 km, ensuring flexibility for different operational needs. The 360-degree cabin view enhances operator visibility, while its advanced safety features ensure smooth and secure operations. By delivering an optimal total cost of ownership, the eTIRAN addresses the growing demand for sustainable and efficient solutions in port logistics.
