Ashok Leyland, one of the leading Indian commercial vehicle manufacturers, has expanded its ‘Road to School’ program to 352 schools in Tamil Nadu’s Erode, Salem, and Dharmapuri districts. This initiative, in partnership with Hinduja Leyland Finance, aims to improve education in primary and middle schools in these regions.
In Salem, the program now reaches 124 schools, in Dharmapuri it extends to 150 schools, and in Erode it covers 78 schools. The ‘Road to School’ program, started in 2015, now supports over 1,700 schools and benefits 200,000 students across more than six states in India.
The expansion in Erode was inaugurated by Thiru Raja Gopal Sunkara I.A.S., District Collector, in the presence of Ashok Leyland officials and local education leaders. In Salem, the launch was led by Dr. Brinda I.A.S., District Collector, while in Dharmapuri, it was inaugurated by Tmt. Santhi I.A.S., District Collector.
Ashok Leyland’s N V Balachandar stated that the program is more than a CSR activity; it is a commitment to driving meaningful change through education. The ‘Road to School’ program supports academic and co-curricular development, including health, hygiene, sports, and arts, aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
With this expansion, Ashok Leyland and Hinduja Leyland Finance aim to enhance the educational experience for over 20,000 children in these districts, contributing to the overall goal of impacting 1 million students in India.
