Ashok Leyland, a leading commercial vehicle manufacturer and the Indian arm of the Hinduja Group, celebrated International Women’s Day by honoring women entrepreneurs and reaffirming its commitment to women’s cricket.
The company hosted ‘Meet & Greet’ sessions in Mumbai and Bengaluru, where successful women entrepreneurs had the opportunity to interact with players from the Mumbai Indians Women’s Team, including Harmanpreet Kaur, Sanjana Sajeevan, Keerthana Balakrishnan, Yastika Bhatia, Parunika Sisodia, and Amanjot Kaur. These sessions offered a platform to discuss challenges and achievements across various fields.
In addition to its sports sponsorship, Ashok Leyland announced it would continue its role as the principal sponsor of the Mumbai Indians Women’s Team for the third year in a row. This partnership reflects the company’s dedication to gender equality and inclusion across sectors.
Beyond sponsorship, Ashok Leyland has implemented several initiatives to promote gender diversity within its workforce. These include flexible work policies for mothers returning to work, a Sabbatical policy for family care, and the ‘Redream – Welcome Back’ program to support women’s return to the workforce.
The company also has women-centric facilities, such as a ‘Women-Centric Cabin Trim Line’ at its Pantnagar plant and an ‘All-Women Production Line’ at its Hosur plant, where women are trained to manage engine production. Through its collaboration with the Delhi Government’s Mission Parivartan, Ashok Leyland has trained 180 women, many of whom have gone on to become bus drivers with the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).
To mark Women’s Day, the company also released a social media video in partnership with Mumbai Indians, highlighting the resilience and determination of young girls and women cricketers. Additionally, through its ‘Road to School’ CSR initiative, Ashok Leyland has supported young girls by providing educational and extracurricular opportunities to help them achieve their academic goals.
