Ashok Leyland is set to take a proactive stance in addressing key global and industry shifts, including electrification and supply chain disruptions, as it aims to become one of the world’s top commercial vehicle manufacturers, according to Chairman Dheeraj G Hinduja. In his message to shareholders in the company’s Annual Report for 2024-25, Mr Hinduja emphasized that the commercial vehicle and mobility sectors are experiencing a major transformation. He noted that the pace of electrification is accelerating, with alternative fuel technologies like LNG and hydrogen-powered vehicles transitioning from concepts to actual products.

Additionally, he highlighted that digitalization and connectivity are reshaping fleet management, after-sales services, and the overall customer experience. Global trade dynamics and supply chain changes are also altering the landscape, Mr Hinduja observed. To stay ahead and capitalize on these shifts, the company will implement a diverse, proactive strategy.

Mr Hinduja stated that ongoing investments in research and development will drive the expansion of electric, LNG, and hydrogen-powered vehicles. Strategic partnerships with technology firms and startups will also play a key role in keeping the company at the cutting edge of innovation, seamlessly incorporating advanced telematics, connectivity, and predictive analytics into their offerings.

Regarding exports, Mr Hinduja pointed to strong growth potential in international markets, particularly in regions like the Middle East, Africa, and ASEAN. These areas are seeing robust economic expansion, greater infrastructure investment, and increasing demand for modern, reliable commercial vehicles that meet local needs.

“We aim to deepen our local presence and leverage regional manufacturing and supply chains. Our strategy is to deliver innovative, sustainable mobility solutions tailored to the unique conditions of these markets,” said Mr Hinduja.

By continually innovating, broadening its global reach, exploring new defense opportunities, and remaining focused on customer value and sustainability, Ashok Leyland is well on its way to achieving its goal of becoming one of the top 10 commercial vehicle manufacturers globally, he added.
