Amara Raja Skill Development Center (ARSDC), operating under the Rajanna Foundation with the support of the Amara Raja Group, has recently declared a new initiative as part of its journey to address the prevailing skill gap in various industries. Recognizing the mismatch between industry requirements and the available talent pool, ARSDC has initiated a comprehensive skill development program, named “Earn While you Learn”, designed to equip the youth with the necessary skill sets, providing them with valuable employment opportunities.
Established on July 17, 2014, ARSDC operates under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS), a government-approved training program that focuses on both skill development and personality enhancement. The residential course spans three months, emphasizing practical training methodologies with a ratio of 70% practical and 30% theory. One notable aspect of the program is the provision of a stipend from the first month of training, reinforcing the commitment to empower individuals through skill development. The infrastructure at ARSDC reflects its commitment to providing a conducive learning environment. Well-equipped classrooms, labs, and workshops ensure that trainees have access to the latest facilities. Additionally, the program covers essential amenities, including safety shoes, uniforms, study materials, food, and accommodation, making it financially accessible for the participants.
The overarching objectives of ARSDC align with minimizing the talent gap in society by systematically imparting technical and non-technical training to matriculated youth from rural India. The program aims to instill both life and job skills, preparing individuals to thrive in the dynamic and ever-changing business and work environment of industrial and allied sectors. Ravikumar Kommana, the Dean at Amara Raja Skill Development Center, emphasizes the importance of sharing this information as part of their Individual Social Responsibility (ISR). The goal is to reach the last mile and every unemployed youth in rural areas who are eligible to benefit from the “Earn While You Learn” Skill Development Program. Mr Kommana highlights the crucial role of encouraging youth to acquire skills and knowledge to contribute to the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat.
For those eager to learn and grow, ARSDC invites interested candidates to join its free training program. The initiative offers free technical training with a stipend for candidates ranging from 10th pass/fail to intermediate pass/fail. The training center is located in Thalapulapalli PO, Petamitta, Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh. Stipend details include Rs 7,500 each for 10th pass/fail and intermediate pass/fail candidates for 3 months at ARSDC, Rs 11,453 for 10th pass/fail candidates, and Rs 11,653 for intermediate pass/fail candidates for 9 months at OJIT (On the Job Training). Additionally, Rs 11,653 is offered for 10th pass/fail candidates for 12 months at OJIT, and Rs 11,853 is extended to intermediate pass/fail candidates for 12 months at OJIT.
This initiative not only provides technical training but also serves as a platform for candidates to earn a stipend while enhancing their skills. The focus on rural youth empowers them with the tools needed for self-reliance, aligning with the broader national goal of building a self-sufficient India. In the words of Ravikumar Kommana, the initiative is a step towards encouraging youth to equip themselves with skills and knowledge, a pivotal requirement for achieving the vision of Atma Nirbhar Bharat. ARSDC, through its skill development program, strives to bridge the gap between education and employment, ensuring that the youth are well-prepared for the challenges and opportunities of the evolving industrial landscape.
