Apple has appointed Kevan Parekh, an executive of Indian origin, as its new Chief Financial Officer, adding to the growing list of Indian-origin leaders in top roles at global companies. Parekh, 52, will step into the position on January 1, 2025, succeeding Luca Maestri, a long-serving Apple veteran. Maestri will continue to oversee Corporate Services, including information systems, security, and real estate, while reporting directly to CEO Tim Cook.
In a company statement, Apple announced Parekh’s promotion from his current role as Vice President of Financial Planning and Analysis to the executive team as CFO. Tim Cook praised Parekh’s expertise, saying his strategic thinking and financial acumen make him the ideal candidate for the role. Parekh, who has been with Apple for 11 years, has led various finance teams, including Worldwide Sales, Retail, and Marketing Finance.
Before joining Apple, Parekh held senior leadership positions at Thomson Reuters and General Motors, bringing with him extensive global experience. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Maestri, reflecting on his transition, expressed confidence in Parekh’s capabilities, stating that Parekh embodies the leadership qualities essential for the CFO role. Reports indicate that Parekh has been gradually prepared for this position over the past few months under Maestri’s mentorship.
Parekh joins a distinguished group of Indian-origin executives in top-tier global positions, including Satya Nadella of Microsoft, Sundar Pichai of Alphabet, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe, and Tesla’s CFO Vaibhav Taneja.
