Precision engineering firm ANT Industries has enhanced its advanced manufacturing capabilities with a significant investment in a new AXILE G8 Turn/Mill Centre at its Atherstone facility. The addition marks a strategic step in reinforcing the company’s position as a reliable supplier of complex components to the aerospace and gas turbine industries.
The AXILE G8 is designed to deliver high-speed machining alongside sophisticated multi-axis control, making it well-suited for producing intricate, high-value components such as aero engine parts. The machine enables improved precision, consistency, and surface quality—key requirements in demanding aerospace applications.
Managing Director Shaun Rowley highlighted the machine’s performance following initial trials, noting clear improvements in accuracy, setup efficiency, and ease of programming. He explained that the technology allows the company to achieve tighter tolerances and greater control when machining complex geometries.
One of the standout features of the AXILE G8 is its ability to produce superior surface finishes. Components manufactured on the machine exhibit a refined, ground-like appearance, reducing the need for additional finishing processes. This level of quality is critical for high-performance aerospace parts where even minor surface imperfections can impact functionality.
The machine also delivers strong consistency in production. Its repeatability ensures that components can be manufactured to exact specifications across multiple batches, supporting the stringent quality standards required by aerospace and gas turbine customers.
A key design element of the AXILE G8 is its centred trunnion construction, which enhances rigidity and stability during machining operations. This structural advantage allows for greater accuracy and improved handling of complex profiles, setting it apart from conventional equipment.
In addition, the turn/mill centre enables multiple machining processes to be completed in a single setup. This reduces the need to transfer components between machines, minimizing handling errors and improving overall geometric accuracy. The streamlined process also contributes to faster throughput and greater operational efficiency.
The investment reflects the increasing demands of the aerospace supply chain, where complexity, traceability, and quality expectations continue to rise. The machine was supplied through ANT Industries’ ongoing partnership with The Engineering Technology Group. With the AXILE G8 now fully operational, ANT Industries is well-positioned to meet evolving industry requirements while delivering high-precision components with consistency and reliability.
