At the Green Hydrogen Summit 2025 held at SRM University-AP, Andhra Pradesh’s Honourable Chief Minister, Chandrababu Naidu, declared the state’s commitment to becoming a hub for green hydrogen development. The summit, inaugurated by the Chief Minister, brought together government officials, policymakers, industrial leaders, and researchers to discuss the future of clean energy solutions. Dr V K Saraswat, Member of NITI Aayog, and other distinguished guests were present at the event.
During his speech, CM Naidu hailed the Green Hydrogen Summit as a historic milestone, emphasizing that Andhra Pradesh was uniquely positioned to lead the country in green hydrogen development. He announced the state’s Green Hydrogen and Green Ammonia Policy, which is expected to attract ₹10,00,000 crore in investment and generate 7.5 lakh jobs in green hydrogen and its associated industries. Naidu also declared Amaravati as the state’s official “Green Hydrogen Valley,” aiming to become a major center for affordable, clean energy solutions.
“This summit is a pivotal step towards a circular economy and sustainability,” said Naidu, stressing the importance of technological advancements in green hydrogen as key to protecting the environment and driving economic growth.
Dr V K Saraswat, in his remarks, highlighted the importance of clean fuels in achieving a carbon-neutral future. He noted that green hydrogen, central to India’s National Hydrogen Mission, will play a crucial role in transitioning towards sustainable energy sources.
Prof D Narayana Rao, Executive Director of Research at SRM Group of Institutions, emphasized India’s growing global role in solving pressing issues such as clean energy and environmental sustainability. He mentioned that the state’s ministries, including Road Transport and Highways, Petroleum and Natural Gas, and Steel, are already involved in green hydrogen projects that align with sector-specific goals. He also announced that SRM University-AP would establish a Green Hydrogen Innovation Centre to drive research and development in the field.
Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Rural Development and Communications, Govt. of India, shared that with the right investments and government policies, green hydrogen production could be scaled up to meet India’s energy needs. K Vijayanand IAS, Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh, echoed this sentiment, adding that the success of green hydrogen technologies would depend on specialized skills and expertise, which universities like SRM AP are well-equipped to provide.
Pranav Tanti, CEO of Synergen Green Energy, further reinforced that Andhra Pradesh offers a highly favorable environment for establishing green hydrogen industries due to its strategic advantages in resources, infrastructure, and policy support. DP Sathyanarayanan, Pro-Chancellor of SRM University-AP, spoke about the importance of fostering a new generation that will drive the clean energy revolution. He announced the launch of the Department of Energy Engineering at SRM Institute of Emerging Technology, aimed at nurturing the next wave of innovators and leaders in the clean energy sector. “The next generation must lead this transformation with their creativity, ideas, and innovation,” he said.
The Green Hydrogen Summit 2025, co-organized by SRM University-AP, the Government of Andhra Pradesh, IIT Tirupati, IISER Tirupati, the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (Govt of India), and other key organizations, featured keynote speeches, plenary sessions, and discussions with industry experts, researchers, and policymakers. The event explored the commercialisation and research potential of green hydrogen, with a focus on innovation, development, and the future of clean energy solutions in India.
