Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) has once again put India on the global innovation map, as its Solar-Powered Tricycle has won the Outstanding Project Award at the BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest 2024. Developed by the Assistive Technology Centre (ATC) at AMTZ, this groundbreaking mobility solution showcases a strong commitment to sustainability and inclusivity in healthcare technology.
The award-winning tricycle, which was officially launched by Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, in August 2024, has now received global recognition. Presented by the BRICS Partner Innovation Center and the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, this prestigious award acknowledges innovations that contribute to sustainable development and empower marginalized communities.
Designed to enhance mobility and independence for persons with disabilities, the Solar-Powered Tricycle integrates solar panels and motor assistance, offering an eco-friendly, cost-effective, and sustainable alternative to traditional mobility aids. By harnessing renewable energy, it significantly reduces physical effort, lowers carbon emissions, and promotes clean transportation solutions in alignment with global sustainability goals.
Dr Jitendra Sharma, MD and Founder CEO of AMTZ, expressed pride in this achievement, stating:
“This global recognition at the BRICS Industrial Innovation Contest 2024 highlights ATC’s dedication to redefining mobility, promoting accessibility, and driving innovation in assistive technology. The Solar-Powered Tricycle is a testament to India’s leadership in sustainable healthcare solutions and its commitment to an inclusive future.”
