AMPO POYAM VALVES has completed the supply of hypercentric triple offset ball valves for a metering station upgrade project for Tengizchevroil (TCO), one of Kazakhstan’s largest oil and gas operators. The project involved replacing existing valves installed in critical metering skids, where accuracy, operational stability, and durability are essential for continuous operation.

The metering station plays a key role in hydrocarbon measurement and control, requiring valves that can perform reliably under demanding service conditions. TCO specified requirements that included resistance to high hydrogen sulphide (H₂S) content, tolerance to erosive media, and long-term operational integrity. Ease of maintenance and reduced downtime were also critical considerations, given the importance of uninterrupted production.

To address these requirements, AMPO worked closely with the client during the technical evaluation and valve selection phase. Based on the operating conditions and performance criteria, AMPO proposed its Hypercentric triple offset ball valve technology, designed for severe service applications where conventional valve designs may face limitations. The non-contact sealing concept allows the valve to operate with minimal wear, contributing to consistent performance over extended service life.

Under the project scope, AMPO supplied a total of 82 Hypercentric ball valves in 8-inch size, manufactured with Inconel overlay and fitted with electric actuators. The valves were produced in compliance with API 6D requirements and successfully passed PR2 testing, confirming their suitability for critical applications involving high pressure and aggressive media.

A comprehensive testing programme formed a key part of the project. The valves underwent inspection and testing at TCO’s facilities in the presence of a third-party inspector. The results validated the performance of the valves, complementing the 6,000-cycle endurance testing previously carried out at AMPO’s manufacturing facilities and certified by DNV. These tests demonstrated the valves’ ability to maintain sealing integrity and operating performance over repeated cycles.

AMPO’s local presence in Kazakhstan also contributed to project execution. AMPO Kazakhstan, based in Atyrau, operates as a manufacturing and service centre supporting oil and gas projects across the Caspian region. The facility provides technical support, maintenance services, and technology transfer, enabling closer collaboration with local operators and faster response times during project implementation.

From a design standpoint, the Hypercentric triple offset ball valve offers flexibility for installation in both vertical and horizontal configurations, making it suitable for space-constrained metering and reduction skids. Its friction-free seat design limits contact between sealing components to the final stage of closure, reducing wear in services with solid particles or contaminants. An independent lower trunnion design further helps prevent debris accumulation and keeps operating torque stable under severe conditions.

With this delivery, AMPO POYAM VALVES reinforces its capability to support complex oil and gas applications through engineered valve solutions, rigorous testing standards, and sustained local support in key energy-producing regions.
