At the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in New Delhi on January 19, Amphenol Communications Solutions (ACS) launched two locally manufactured electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions, aimed at meeting the needs of India’s expanding electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler markets. The company introduced its DuraSwap Concentric Connectors and Type 6 Charging Gun solutions.
The Type 6 Charging Gun and Inlet, which adhere to IEC 62196-6 standards, can support continuous current up to 100A and feature communication protocols for interaction between vehicles and charging stations. The DuraSwap Concentric Connectors, designed for battery swapping systems, also offer an IP67 rating for environmental protection and similar current capacity.
Tony Peter Paul, Global Product Marketing Manager for E-Mobility at ACS, emphasized that these products reflect the company’s dedication to supporting the growth of EV infrastructure globally while addressing specific needs in the local market. The launch event was attended by Dr Anita Gupta, Head of Scientific Divisions at the Department of Science and Technology (DST), and Suresh Babu, Scientist E/Director at DST. ACS also showcased other power connectivity solutions, such as DuraEV, EnergyKlip, and Multi-Trak systems.
ACS’s move to increase local manufacturing comes as India’s electric vehicle market, especially in the two-wheeler segment, continues to grow rapidly. The Indian government has been promoting the domestic production of EV components through various initiatives and policies.
