AMB 2026, the international exhibition for metalworking, has officially opened at Messe Stuttgart, bringing together 1,195 exhibitors from 34 countries. The 22nd edition of the event is being held from September 15 to 19 and covers the complete process chain of the metal-cutting industry.
The opening ceremony was attended by Roland Bleinroth, President of Messe Stuttgart; Dr Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism of Baden-Württemberg; and Kati Wilhelm, three-time Olympic champion and five-time world champion in biathlon. This year’s event is being held across all ten trade fair halls, with exhibitors presenting products, technologies, services and solutions for the metalworking industry. Under the theme “Where metal comes alive,” AMB 2026 provides a platform for companies and professionals to exchange ideas, explore new technologies and build business relationships.
Roland Bleinroth, President of Messe Stuttgart, said AMB 2026 demonstrates the strong connection between the international metalworking industry and Stuttgart. He noted that the participation of 1,195 exhibitors from 34 countries, along with full occupancy of all ten halls, highlights the event’s regional importance and international reach.
Baden-Württemberg remains an important centre for mechanical engineering and metalworking in Europe. AMB has been held in Stuttgart for more than 40 years, bringing the industry together in one of Europe’s major manufacturing regions.
Dr Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, Minister of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism of Baden-Württemberg, highlighted the state’s position in the machine tool and precision tool industries. She also pointed to the new “Defence & Security Opportunities” format introduced at AMB 2026, as well as the event’s cooperation with Baden-Württemberg International.
The opening ceremony also highlighted the connection between precision manufacturing and high-performance sport. Kati Wilhelm spoke about the importance of precision and reliability in biathlon, where small differences can determine the result of a competition.
She drew a parallel between professional sport and industrial production, noting that reliable processes and precision are equally important when operating under pressure. Precision-machined components and reliable manufacturing processes play an important role in producing equipment used across various industries, including sport.
AMB 2026 features the latest developments in metal-cutting technology, machine tools, precision tools, automation, digitalisation and production technology. The event also provides opportunities for manufacturers, suppliers, engineers and industry professionals to discuss current challenges and future developments.
AMB has been presenting developments from the international metalworking industry since 1982. Held from September 15 to 19, 2026, at Messe Stuttgart, the event brings together companies and professionals from across the metal-cutting industry. AMB showcases products, technologies, innovations, services and concepts covering the complete metalworking process chain. The exhibition is supported by the VDMA Precision Tools Association, VDMA Software and Digitalisation Association and the German Machine Tool Builders’ Association (VDW).
