Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M), has signed a technical licensing agreement with GIB EnergyX Slovakia, part of Gotion High-Tech Co.
Under this agreement, GIB EnergyX will license its advanced lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell technology to ARACT. This will allow Amara Raja to produce high-quality LFP cells in cylindrical and prismatic forms.
The agreement includes access to Gotion’s cell technology, help with setting up Gigafactory facilities, integration with Gotion’s global supply chain for battery materials, and technical support for customers. This partnership will support Amara Raja’s efforts to start Gigafactory manufacturing and advance its research center, ‘e+ Energy Labs.’
Last year, Amara Raja announced a Rs 9,500 crore investment to build the Amara Raja Giga Corridor in Telangana. The company aims to keep its products competitive by continuously improving cell performance and manufacturing processes through this partnership.
Both Amara Raja and Gotion are investors and board members of InoBat, a Slovakian lithium battery technology company. GIB, a joint venture between Gotion High-Tech and InoBat, recently signed an investment deal with the Slovak government to develop the country’s first LFP battery Gigafactory. Gotion High-Tech has eight global R&D centers, 8,000 patented technologies, 20 major manufacturing locations worldwide, and aims to reach a production capacity of 300GWh by 2025.
