AM/NS India‘s associate (ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India), a joint venture between ArcelorMittal and Nippon Steel, has recently received the prestigious Rajya Shram Award from the state government. The Rajya Shram Awards ceremony took place in Gandhinagar, where the Government of Gujarat’s Industries, Civil Aviation, Rural Development, Labour, and Employment Minister, Balvantsinh Rajput, presented the awards.
Sonalal Ray, an associate of AM/NS India serving in the Control of Mechanical Department, was honored with the Rajya Shram Bhushan Award. This award recognizes individuals for their outstanding contributions to productivity/production and their innovative abilities. Ray was nominated for his innovative approach to quickly reviving electric arc furnace 3, which had broken down due to a slew bearing failure.
Thanks to his idea, the furnace was back in operation in just eight days, three days earlier than the estimated 11 days. The state government bestows the Rajya Shram Awards to applaud and acknowledge the innovative work done by industrial workers in various fields, including production, productivity, industrial harmony, quick thinking, and initiatives in health, safety, and the environment. The awards are categorized as Rajya Shram Ratna, Rajya Shram Bhushan, Rajya Shram Vir, and Rajya Shram Shri / Shram Devi.
