Hyderabad-based AM Green Technology and Solutions B.V. (part of the AM Green Group) has finalized the acquisition of Finland’s Chempolis Oy and Fortum 3 B.V. The terms of the deal were not disclosed. This strategic move will enhance AM Green’s technological capabilities to process a broader range of feedstocks and support its plans to invest $1 billion in building sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plants with a capacity of over 0.5 million tons per annum by 2027 to aid in global airline decarbonization.

Chempolis is known for its advanced biorefining technologies, while Fortum 3 focuses on clean energy production. AM Green aims to establish large-scale biorefineries that utilize diverse feedstocks to produce high-value green products, driving decarbonization efforts in aviation, fuel, chemicals, and other industries worldwide.

Chempolis’s technology, which processes second-generation (2G) waste feedstocks, will help the company produce green chemicals such as ethanol, furfural, and lignin. This acquisition aligns with AM Green’s vision of becoming a global leader in industrial decarbonization. The company plans to collaborate with partners worldwide to establish a bio-refinery ecosystem using Chempolis’s technology through a licensing model.

The development of large-scale biorefineries using Chempolis technology is expected to play a critical role in upstream feedstock processing and the production of downstream chemicals and fuels, including SAF, accelerating the global energy transition.
