Altair (Nasdaq: ALTR) and LG Electronics Vehicle Component Solutions Company (LG VS Company) have joined forces to create a new analysis solution aimed at making products last longer. LG Electronics managed to cut the development time for their vehicle infotainment parts by over 20% using Altair® OptiStruct®, a powerful structural analysis software.
Before this, LG Electronics used multiple software tools to check for fatigue damage, which made the process slow and complicated. To fix this, Altair and LG Electronics developed an integrated solution that combines different types of physical analysis.
Sam Mahalingam, Chief Technology Officer at Altair, said, “Our work with LG Electronics improves product safety and durability, speeding up progress in manufacturing industries like electronics.”
LG Electronics used their experience with next-gen vehicle infotainment parts to enhance the software’s accuracy. This collaboration allows designers to spot and fix potential issues early, significantly extending the lifespan of products. The new integrated process also checks stress and strain in various environments, improving durability and performance.
Sangyong Lee, head of the LG Electronics VS division research lab, said, “This partnership combines our expertise with Altair’s advanced engineering technology, making us more competitive as a solution provider.”
Altair® OptiStruct® is a modern structural solver used by industry-leading companies for its accurate and scalable solutions in various analyses like statics, dynamics, vibrations, acoustics, and heat transfer. For over 25 years, it has driven the creation of lightweight and efficient designs.
