Alstom, a global leader in sustainable and intelligent mobility solutions, has signed a contract with NJ TRANSIT to refurbish 209 Multilevel II rail trucks. The overhaul work will be conducted at Alstom’s Kanona, NY facility, a specialized center for vehicle and component refurbishment in the United States. The contract is valued at over $25 million USD.
Alstom’s team will restore or replace truck components in line with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) specifications to enhance performance, safety, and passenger comfort. These overhauls, required every 10 years, ensure the rail cars remain in optimal working condition and comply with all federal safety and American Public Transportation Association (APTA) standards.
“We are dedicated to restoring NJ TRANSIT’s fleet performance through comprehensive overhauls, ensuring passengers experience safe, reliable, and efficient transit services,” said Michael Keroullé, President of Alstom Americas. “This initiative reaffirms our commitment to supporting customers throughout the entire lifecycle of their fleets.”
