Alstom, a global leader in sustainable mobility solutions, is reorganizing its European operations, three and a half years after acquiring Bombardier Transportation. This strategic move aims to strengthen its presence in key markets by merging the Germany, Austria, and Switzerland (DACH) region with the Nordics cluster, which includes Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, and Iceland. The new regional structure will take effect in January 2025.
Germany plays a pivotal role in Alstom’s European business, with 50% of its train production being exported to the Nordics, including major projects like Sweden’s C30 Stockholm Metro, Norway’s Norske Tog 05 trains, and Denmark’s IC5 for DSB.
To lead this expanded region, Alstom has appointed Tim Dawidowsky, who will officially join the company on October 1, 2024, and will be based in Berlin. Alstom CEO Henri Poupart-Lafarge expressed confidence in Dawidowsky’s experience in project-based businesses and operational efficiency, saying it will make the company more competitive in the region.
Dawidowsky is enthusiastic about the new role, stating, “I’m excited to join Alstom and work with the DACH & Nordics team to drive transformation and focus on sustainable growth.”
Current DACH Region President, Müslüm Yakisan, who led the successful integration of Bombardier’s projects in the area, will assist with the transition until the end of October. Yakisan’s tenure saw the company secure key contracts, including the Coradia Max for Baden-Württemberg, the Hamburg Metro, and S-Bahn Cologne.
