Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility, has launched its Young Engineering Graduate Program (YEGP) 2023 in India. The program aims to onboard 700 young graduate engineers over the next two months, marking the highest intake since its inception. The YEGP has been a vital component of Alstom’s India hiring strategy since 2015, focusing on developing young engineering talent for both Indian and global business requirements.
Among the 700 hires, 58% are women engineers, demonstrating Alstom’s commitment to gender diversity. The campus hiring process covered 26 states across India, encompassing 54 universities and reflecting Alstom’s regional diversity promise. Notably, there has been a twofold increase in hiring from the North-eastern states compared to the previous year.
Vinod Varghese, Human Resources Director India, expressed his delight in being the preferred employer for a record number of young engineering graduates. He emphasized Alstom’s dedication to building a future-ready and global workforce in India. Alstom’s extensive experience, expertise, and global presence in the rail sector contribute to the professional development of the new hires, enabling them to gain industrial and engineering knowledge for a globally relevant profile. These recruits will play a significant role in Alstom’s Make In India vision, as the company’s products and solutions developed in India are deployed worldwide.
The YEGP includes a 14-day immersive program to provide a comprehensive understanding of Alstom’s business, operations, and functions. The young engineers will participate in close interactions with the leadership team, enabling them to acquire technical, functional, and on-the-job training. They will be assigned roles such as Application Engineers, Train Control Engineers, Train Design Engineers, and Testing & Commissioning Engineers. The fresh hires will work across Alstom’s six manufacturing facilities and four engineering centers, serving both domestic and international markets.
Since its initiation, the YEGP has recruited over 1800 engineering graduates in collaboration with leading technical and engineering colleges across India. The selected candidates possess specializations in various engineering disciplines, including Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Computer Science, Industrial, and Mechatronics.
