Akzo Nobel India Explores Sale of Powder Coatings Business and R&D Unit

Akzo Nobel India Ltd announced on January 6 that its parent company, Akzo Nobel NV (ANNV), has proposed a strategic evaluation of the company’s powder coatings business and its international research center. The proposal includes a potential sale of these operations to an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of ANNV.

In a regulatory filing, Akzo Nobel India stated that ANNV has requested the company’s board to begin exploring steps toward the proposed transactions. Additionally, the evaluation includes Akzo Nobel India potentially acquiring the intellectual property for decorative paints owned by ANNV.

At a board meeting held on January 6, 2025, the directors authorized management to start the exploratory process. The company emphasized that any final decision will depend on further review and compliance with legal and procedural norms. “The Board has authorized the management to take necessary steps to assess and evaluate these potential transactions,” the filing noted.
