Aker BP has appointed a new executive management team that will take office on January 1, 2027, as the company moves towards an operating model organised around its value chain from exploration to production. The new structure is intended to strengthen collaboration across the organisation, reduce complexity and improve project execution. Until the end of 2026, the incoming executive management team will work on developing the new operating model, with a focus on maturing projects more quickly and cost-effectively through the value chain.

The company said the new structure will reduce organisational interfaces and build closer links between different stages of project development and production. The model will also draw on Aker BP’s work with industrial data and artificial intelligence over the past decade and its collaboration with alliance partners. The current executive management team will remain in place until January 1, 2027.

“Aker BP is uniquely positioned for long-term value creation on the Norwegian continental shelf. The changes we are making will strengthen that position. The shelf is changing, and tomorrow’s shelf requires something different from us than yesterday’s did. We are now positioning the company for that future,” said Karl Johnny Hersvik, CEO of Aker BP.

Mr Hersvik also thanked the existing executive management team for establishing the foundation for the organisational changes. The new management team will comprise executives responsible for five areas across the company’s value chain. Petter Sørhaug will lead Find & Develop, Tommy Sigmundstad will be responsible for Build, Lars Høier for Produce, Øystein Arvesen for Optimise and Knut Sandvik for PDO Projects.

Strategic and support functions will be led by David Tønne as CFO, Marit Blaasmo as head of Services, Thomas Hoff-Hansen as head of Digital, Paula Doyle as head of Strategic Innovation and Rolf Nystein as head of Transformation. The development of the new organisation is being carried out in cooperation with employee representatives and the company’s safety delegate service.

Aker BP is engaged in the exploration, development and production of oil and gas on the Norwegian continental shelf. The company operates the Alvheim, Eiga, Skarv, Ula and Valhall field centres and the Yggdrasil development. It is also a partner in the Johan Sverdrup field. Measured by production, Aker BP is among Europe’s largest independent oil companies. The company is headquartered at Fornebu and is listed on the Oslo Stock Exchange under the ticker AKRBP.
