Ahead of the Paris Air Show, Airbus Helicopters has unveiled HTeaming, its new modular solution designed to enable seamless collaboration between crewed helicopters and uncrewed aerial systems (UAS). This cutting-edge system allows helicopter crews to maintain full control over UAS during flight, opening new possibilities for efficient and safer missions.
The first iteration of HTeaming can operate either as an independent solution or be integrated into a helicopter’s existing mission system. At the Paris Air Show, Airbus Helicopters will present the standalone version, which includes a tablet for human-machine interaction, software to manage UAS operations, a modem, and four antennas that are mounted on the helicopter. The system is designed to be operated by a standard helicopter crew, reducing their workload while providing advanced capabilities. HTeaming is modular, with plans for ongoing enhancements and new features in the future.
The system has already undergone flight testing, including a trial in May 2025 with a Spanish Navy H135 helicopter and an Airbus Flexrotor UAS. Additional flight trials with different platforms are scheduled for the coming months.
Victor GerinRoze, Head of UAS at Airbus Helicopters, commented on the development: “Leveraging our expertise as both a helicopter and UAS manufacturer, as well as our deep experience in system integration, we have created a solution that is both modular and agnostic. HTeaming is designed to be compatible with any type of helicopter and any UAS, and it will be available for helicopter operators by 2026.” He added, “We see UAS as force multipliers for helicopters. By combining the sensors and effectors of UAS with the capabilities of rotorcraft, crews will be able to carry out missions more efficiently and with enhanced safety.”
Airbus Helicopters has been at the forefront of crewed-uncrewed teaming, conducting numerous flight tests on platforms like the H135, H145, and H130 with various UAS. These trials have paved the way for the introduction of HTeaming. Alongside the standalone version at the Paris Air Show, Airbus plans to gradually roll out integrated solutions for its full range of helicopter products in the near future.
