Air Liquide and TotalEnergies Unveils TEAL Mobility

Hydrogen-transport

Air Liquide and TotalEnergies have unveiled the establishment of TEAL Mobility, a collaborative venture aimed at establishing the foremost hydrogen distribution provider for heavy-duty vehicles across Europe.

Air Liquide one of the global leaders in gases, technologies, and services for industrial and health applications. Operating in over 80 countries, it provides a wide range of solutions, including oxygen, nitrogen, and hydrogen, supporting diverse industries like healthcare, manufacturing, and energy.

On the other hand, TotalEnergies, formerly Total, is an international energy company involved in oil, gas, and low-carbon energy operations. It has its headquarters in France, and a global presence in exploration, production, refining, and marketing.

To commemorate the Hyvolution 2024 event, Air Liquide and TotalEnergies have jointly unveiled the establishment of TEAL Mobility. With both companies holding equal ownership, TEAL Mobility is set to expedite the advancement of hydrogen adoption in heavy-duty trucks by rolling out a network of 100 stations across major European transportation corridors.

This initiative aims to bolster the ongoing momentum within the industry, benefitting not only truck manufacturers but also transport operators. Over the next decade, TEAL Mobility envisions the development of more than 100 hydrogen stations, thereby pioneering the creation of the first-ever transnational European network of such magnitude, operating under the TotalEnergies brand.

Commencing operations in 2024, TEAL Mobility plans to manage approximately 20 stations positioned in France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, and Germany. This endeavor by TEAL Mobility emerges as a viable solution for transport and logistics operators committed to curbing their CO2 emissions.

Hydrogen emerges as an ideal choice for long-distance road transport due to its unique features, facilitating rapid refueling in approximately 15 minutes and offering an extended range of around 800 km, all while preserving vehicle loading capacity.

The collaboration forming TEAL Mobility leverages the combined expertise of its founding companies. On one front, there’s proficiency in technologies and mastery of the entire hydrogen value chain, while on the other, there’s adeptness in the operation and management of station networks along with the distribution of energy to business-to-business (B2B) customers.

TEAL Mobility positions itself as a market player, actively supplying hydrogen to transportation customers through a network of stations that the joint venture not only develops and operates but also ensures a seamless supply chain. This initiative signifies a stride towards sustainable and efficient hydrogen-based transportation solutions in Europe.
