The Association of Indian Forging Industry (AIFI) has announced the launch of the GenNext Entrepreneurs Forum, a groundbreaking platform aimed at fostering the next generation of leaders in India’s forging sector. This innovative initiative seeks to equip young entrepreneurs with the tools and knowledge necessary to thrive in an increasingly globalized industry marked by rapid innovation and sustainability challenges.

As India’s economy continues to grow at a robust 7.2% annual rate, and industries embrace disruptive technologies like AI, IoT, robotics, and fintech, the forging sector is poised for a major transformation. The GenNext Entrepreneurs Forum responds to these changes, offering emerging leaders in family-owned forging businesses the support they need to succeed in this evolving landscape.

Yash Munot, President of AIFI, shared his thoughts on the initiative: “The GenNext Entrepreneurs Forum is more than just a platform; it’s a movement designed to shape the future of the Indian forging industry. Our goal is to position Indian forging as a global leader in innovation, quality, and sustainability. We are focused on providing young entrepreneurs with insights, leadership training, industry best practices, and global exposure to help them navigate the changing industrial world.”

The Forum will focus on creating a space for young forging leaders to share knowledge, participate in leadership development programs, and stay updated on the latest global trends and technologies. Activities will include strategic sessions, academic partnerships, policy discussions, and visits to innovation hubs. The first milestone of the Forum was a launch event in Hyderabad, which featured a tour of the CII-Godrej Green Business Centre, India’s first LEED Platinum-certified building, and a leadership workshop by Dr Rahul More on “Re-inventing Family-Owned Businesses and Shifting Orbits of Growth.”

Ankit Mehta, Director of KLM Forge Pvt Ltd, Pune, commented, “In today’s rapidly changing industrial environment, collaboration and innovation are key. The GenNext Entrepreneurs Forum provides an excellent opportunity for young forgers like myself to connect with peers, exchange ideas on modern forging practices, and explore new technologies that are shaping the future of our industry.”

Looking ahead, the Forum will continue to facilitate interaction with young leaders from various sectors, offer leadership programs in partnership with leading academic institutions, and organize overseas study missions. Additionally, it will focus on cutting-edge topics such as AI, robotics, machine learning, cybersecurity, and ESG frameworks to ensure the growth of India’s forging sector remains aligned with global best practices.

Sivarjun Rachamallu, GM of Rachamallu Forgings Pvt. Ltd., Hyderabad, said, “I’m proud to be a part of the GenNext Entrepreneurs Forum, an initiative that brings together fresh ideas and seasoned experience. The Forum will drive progress in the forging sector by advancing technology, promoting sustainability, and influencing the development of progressive industry policies at the government level.”

This initiative is in line with AIFI’s broader vision to establish India’s forging industry as a global leader in manufacturing excellence, innovation, and sustainability. By focusing on strategic advocacy, skill development, and collaborative growth, AIFI is dedicated to driving the industry’s transformation on the international stage.

Founded in 1965, AIFI is the oldest and most influential association representing the Indian forging industry, with the highest membership in the sector. The Indian forging industry is a crucial driver of the nation’s manufacturing sector, playing a pivotal role in the success of the automobile, power, and general engineering industries. AIFI serves as the umbrella organization for over 200 forging members across India, whose products include components such as crankshafts, connecting rods, camshafts, gearboxes, and industrial valves.

The forging industry is a vital supplier to automotive companies and a key contributor to employment. As India stands as the second-largest producer of forgings globally, after China, AIFI has been at the forefront of advocating for the industry’s interests, fostering dialogue between stakeholders, and driving proactive solutions for policy development and market expansion.
