Agnikul Cosmos, a leading space technology company, has unveiled its vision for fully reusable rockets, pledging that no part of its launch vehicles will be discarded. The announcement was made during the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) 2025 in Sydney, aligning with the event’s focus on “Sustainable Space: Resilient Earth.” The initiative is backed by multiple patents across the US, Europe, and India, covering multi-purpose launch systems and reusability technologies.

At the heart of this effort is Agnikul’s patented combined launch vehicle-satellite system and semi-cryogenic propellant technology, designed for efficient refurbishment and cost-effective repeat flights. Building on the success of its controlled-ascent mission, powered by in-house autopilot algorithms, Agnikul is advancing the development of commercial-grade reusable spaceflight solutions.

“Our rockets have been built with affordability and flexibility in mind from day one,” said Srinath Ravichandran, Co-founder & CEO of Agnikul Cosmos. “We are thankful for the support of IN-SPACe and ISRO, whose policies and technical collaboration have enabled us to pursue stage recovery and reuse at scale.”

Agnikul’s in-house manufacturing and R&D ecosystem is central to its strategy, with every patent and system designed to deliver low-cost, customizable launch services. “Our approach is about driving cost efficiency and making small satellite launches commercially viable,” said Moin SPM, Co-founder & COO. “Our earlier test flight was a technology demonstrator for controlled ascent, paving the way for reusable systems.”

These innovations support global debris mitigation goals while strengthening India’s role in the space economy. Complementing its reusability push, Agnikul recently commissioned a state-of-the-art additive manufacturing facility in Chennai dedicated to aerospace and launch vehicle systems, aiming to cut production costs by up to 50% and create an end-to-end space hardware ecosystem.

Agnikul Cosmos Private Limited, headquartered in Chennai, is an IIT Madras-incubated space technology company focused on building advanced space transportation solutions. The company is currently developing its flagship launch vehicle, Agnibaan, designed to deliver small satellites into orbit on demand.

Last year, Agnikul marked a major milestone by successfully carrying out its maiden launch from India’s first-ever private launchpad, which the company built and operates. This mission stood out for its controlled ascent flight, powered by a single-piece, fully 3D-printed engine—designed and manufactured entirely in-house—and guided by proprietary autopilot algorithms to follow a precisely defined trajectory.
