Aequs and Tramontina Form Joint Venture to Manufacture Cookware in India

Aequs Private Ltd. and Brazilian homeware giant Tramontina have partnered to establish a new joint venture (JV), Aequs Cookware Pvt. Ltd. (ACPL), to manufacture premium cookware for domestic and international markets. The 50:50 JV will operate from Aequs’ manufacturing hub at the Hubballi Durable Goods Cluster (HDC), marking Tramontina’s first production facility outside the Americas.

By capitalizing on India’s competitive manufacturing ecosystem, the collaboration blends Tramontina’s expertise in cookware production with Aequs’ precision engineering capabilities. The venture will also benefit from HDC’s extensive 400-acre infrastructure, offering an integrated manufacturing ecosystem.

Aravind Melligeri, Chairman & CEO of Aequs, expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration, stating, “We are excited to partner with Tramontina and bring their century-long cookware expertise to India. Eduardo Scomazzon, Chairman of the Board of Directors at Tramontina, highlighted the strategic significance of the JV, saying, “This partnership strengthens our presence in the Indian market while enabling us to serve global customers with superior products at highly competitive conditions from the Hubballi facility.”

The JV will see an investment of up to ₹800 million, reinforcing its commitment to scaling operations in India. Tramontina, with 113 years of manufacturing experience, boasts a portfolio of over 22,000 kitchen and homeware products sold across 120 countries. Since its entry into the Indian market last year, the brand has expanded its offerings through an omnichannel retail strategy, catering to diverse customer needs.

Tramontina is a globally recognized homeware manufacturer with nine production facilities in Brazil and distribution centers in 16 countries. With a workforce of over 10,000 employees, the company’s extensive product range includes cookware, kitchen appliances, tools, furniture, and electrical materials, serving both household and industrial markets.
