ADIMEM Acquires Advanced Membrane Manufacturing Platform

ADIMEM Technologies, the membrane technology division of Vipul Organics Limited, has acquired an advanced industrial membrane sheet manufacturing platform from Aquaporin’s facility in Denmark through a competitive bidding process. The platform will be relocated to ADIMEM’s manufacturing facility at Sayakha in Gujarat. The acquisition will strengthen the company’s capabilities in advanced membrane manufacturing and support its plans to develop and produce high-performance Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Nanofiltration (NF) membranes in India.

The acquired platform includes precision membrane casting, coating and drying equipment, along with process-control and manufacturing systems. The production-grade infrastructure was previously used by Aquaporin for membrane development and manufacturing.

For advanced membranes, manufacturing precision is critical to achieving consistent performance. Factors such as casting thickness, coating conditions, drying and other process parameters can have a direct impact on the final membrane. ADIMEM said the acquisition provides production-proven infrastructure that would otherwise take considerable time and investment to develop internally.

ADIMEM already has capabilities across membrane research and development, product development, element manufacturing, quality control, performance testing and application engineering. The new equipment will add advanced casting and coating capabilities to this existing platform.

Vipul P Shah, Managing Director, Vipul Organics Limited, said the acquisition is an important step towards building a globally competitive membrane technology business from India. He said bringing proven manufacturing infrastructure from a Danish membrane technology company to the Sayakha facility will strengthen vertical integration and support the Make in India initiative.

Dr.Vatsal Shah, who leads ADIMEM Technologies, said membrane performance depends not only on chemistry but also on the precision of casting, coating and drying. He said the new platform, combined with ADIMEM’s indigenous R&D, element manufacturing, testing and application engineering capabilities, will strengthen the company’s ability to develop and manufacture RO and NF membranes for domestic and international markets.

The upgraded manufacturing platform will support ADIMEM’s broader portfolio covering Microfiltration (MF), Ultrafiltration (UF), Nanofiltration (NF), Reverse Osmosis (RO) and Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technologies. These technologies are used in industrial water treatment, wastewater recycling, desalination and specialised process separation applications.

The acquisition is part of Vipul Organics’ strategy to expand into technology-driven and sustainability-focused businesses. The company said the investment in membrane manufacturing will help strengthen its position in the growing water treatment market. ADIMEM Technologies develops membrane technologies and water treatment solutions for industrial, municipal and specialised applications. Its portfolio covers MF, UF, NF, RO and MBR systems.

Vipul Organics, which is listed on the BSE, manufactures pigments, dyestuffs, lake colours and pigment intermediates. The company operates three manufacturing facilities across Maharashtra and Gujarat and has a presence in more than 50 countries. Vipul Organics reported revenue of ₹175.4 crore for FY26. The relocation of the Danish manufacturing platform to Sayakha is expected to provide ADIMEM with additional production capabilities and support the company’s plans to expand its advanced membrane business in India and overseas.
