HYDI, an Australian developer of hydrogen fuel-enhancement systems, has entered into an exclusive three-year distribution partnership with the Adaptalift Group, one of Australia’s largest privately owned providers of fleet management and material handling solutions. Under the agreement, Adaptalift Group becomes the sole distributor of HYDI’s hydrogen-on-demand systems for the material handling and container handling sectors across Australia. The collaboration is designed to accelerate the adoption of lower-emission technologies across heavy industrial operations, enabling businesses to reduce fuel consumption, operating costs and environmental impact.

The exclusivity spans a wide range of heavy-duty equipment across major global brands. Covered machinery includes reachstackers, top lifters, straddle carriers and empty container handlers, along with forklifts and terminal tractors/ATVs. The agreement also extends to specialized attachments such as material handling grabs widely used in forestry and scrap metal operations, ensuring that hydrogen-enhanced solutions are available across demanding industrial applications.

HYDI’s system generates hydrogen on demand and introduces it into the air intake of diesel engines. This process promotes more efficient combustion without storing hydrogen or requiring engine modifications. The technology is engineered to deliver measurable operational and environmental benefits across diesel-powered equipment.

Field performance expectations include up to 15% reduction in diesel consumption and emissions reductions ranging between 12% and 18% for CO, CO₂ and NOx. The system can also cut diesel particulate matter by as much as 80%, contributing to extended diesel particulate filter (DPF) life. Cleaner combustion reduces soot accumulation, leading to fewer active regeneration cycles, lower thermal stress and reduced fuel wastage.

Additional advantages include improved engine torque, lower maintenance requirements, avoidance of premature DPF replacement and reduced equipment downtime. By minimizing back-pressure and promoting cleaner engine operation, the system supports long-term engine durability.

Craig Bates, Chairman and CEO of HYDI, said the agreement represents a significant milestone in expanding access to sustainable power solutions in the industrial sector. He noted that Adaptalift’s national service footprint across Australia and New Zealand provides the reach required to support customers pursuing ESG targets from 2026 onward.

Lindsay Whiffen, CEO of Adaptalift Group, said the partnership strengthens the company’s ability to deliver advanced, cost-effective solutions to its clients. He emphasized that integrating hydrogen technology into heavy equipment fleets offers customers a practical pathway to lowering emissions while improving operational efficiency. The agreement takes immediate effect, with installation and support services delivered through Adaptalift’s nationwide service network.
