Adani Total Gas and Flipkart, an e-commerce platform, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to aid Flipkart’s goal of decreasing the carbon footprint associated with the transportation of products from their origins to storage facilities and finally to consumers.

Adani Total Gas, a subsidiary of Adani Group, focuses on natural gas distribution and renewable energy solutions. Flipkart operates a vast supply chain network for retail goods. Adani Total Gas is spearheading electric vehicle charging infrastructure via its subsidiary, ATEL, across Flipkart’s logistics landscape. This collaboration aims to decarbonize e-commerce logistics, aligning with India’s sustainability goals. Adani Total Gas specializes in energy distribution, while Flipkart dominates India’s e-commerce sector with its extensive delivery network.

Suresh P Manglani, Executive Director & CEO of Adani Total Gas Ltd, said, “We are fully committed to providing clean energy solutions to our customers and to help them achieve their decarbonization goals, thus actively contributing towards India’s climate action goals.” Hemant Badri, Senior Vice President and Head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience & Re-Commerce, Flipkart Group, said, “At Flipkart, we are committed to introducing solutions that help us move towards a sustainable future, such as integrating cleaner energy solutions and introduction of electric vehicles in our logistics. Through shared vision and collective action, we believe this collaboration with Adani Total Gas Limited will play an important role in supporting our efforts to achieve our net-zero goals and in catalyzing the complete electrification of our fleet, which is a key part of Flipkart’s larger sustainability vision.”

Adani TotalEnergies E-Mobility Limited (ATEL) is set to install electric vehicle charging points across Flipkart’s nationwide supply chain, spanning warehouses and logistics hubs. In a statement, Adani Gas highlighted that this collaboration will significantly contribute to reducing the carbon footprint in the e-commerce logistics sector in India, which handles over 8 million shipments daily. During COP26 in 2021, India made an ambitious “Panchamrit” pledge comprising five key commitments. These include achieving a 500 GW capacity in non-fossil fuel electricity production, meeting half of the nation’s energy demands through renewable sources, slashing emissions by 1 billion metric tonnes by 2030, reducing the emissions intensity of GDP by 45%, and ultimately reaching net-zero emissions by 2070.
