The Adani Group and Google have recently announced a significant partnership that aims to bolster their sustainability initiatives while contributing to the advancement of clean energy in India. In a press release issued on Thursday, the Adani Group revealed its plans to provide renewable energy from an innovative solar-wind hybrid project located in Khavda, Gujarat, which is also the site of the largest renewable energy installation in the world.

This ambitious project is projected to begin commercial operations in the third quarter of 2025. The Adani Group possesses a robust history of executing extensive renewable energy projects, encompassing wind, solar, hybrid systems, and energy storage solutions. With this expertise, the group is exceptionally positioned to offer customized energy solutions tailored to meet the needs of commercial and industrial (C&I) clients.

The strategic emphasis on this area is designed to aid industries in fulfilling their energy requirements while simultaneously striving to reduce their carbon footprints. Moving forward, Adani intends to focus on broadening its presence within the merchant and C&I sectors, recognizing this as a vital step in the decarbonization process of diverse industries.

This partnership also dovetails with Google’s ambitious objective of achieving 24/7 carbon-free energy for all its global operations. In addition, the technology behemoth has set a target to cut its total combined Scope 1, 2, and 3 absolute emissions by 50% by the year 2030. This initiative was first initiated by Google back in 2019, showcasing its commitment to environmental sustainability and carbon neutrality.

By utilizing clean energy sources available in India, this collaboration seeks to ensure that Google’s cloud services and overall operations are powered by renewable energy. This alignment not only supports Google’s sustainable growth in the region but also reinforces its commitment to mitigating climate change. The partnership marks a crucial step in integrating clean energy solutions into large-scale operations, thus fostering a more sustainable future for both companies and the communities they serve.

In a related development earlier today, a report by Reuters highlighted that a subsidiary of Adani Green Energy Ltd had entered into a power consumption agreement aimed at supplying green energy to a commercial and industrial client. According to this agreement, Adani Renewable Energy Three Ltd will deliver electricity generated from a newly established renewable energy facility boasting a capacity of 61.4 megawatts, also located in Khavda.

The formalization of this power consumption agreement (PCA) took place on October 3, marking another step forward in the Adani Group’s commitment to renewable energy solutions. This partnership between Adani and Google reflects a growing trend among corporations to seek sustainable energy solutions, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing climate change challenges and transitioning towards a greener economy.

Adani Group is a multinational conglomerate based in India, established in 1988. It operates across diverse sectors, including energy, resources, logistics, agribusiness, real estate, financial services, and defense. With a commitment to sustainable development, the group focuses on innovation and infrastructure growth, aiming to enhance the quality of life for communities while driving economic progress in India and beyond.
