The Adani Group has allocated $2-2.5 billion for buying companies in the defence sector over the next 2-3 years. They are eyeing drone technology firms in Bengaluru and Hyderabad. These drones can be used for surveillance in dangerous areas. Talks with these drone companies are ongoing, and a deal might happen soon, sources say.
Earlier this month, Adani Defence & Aerospace teamed up with UAE-based EDGE Group to work on defence projects like missiles, weapons, unmanned aerial systems, and cyber technologies. Adani Defence’s CEO Ashish Rajvanshi mentioned big investments in the defence sector over the next decade at a recent summit.
In February, Adani launched a ₹3,000-crore ammunition factory in Kanpur, which is South Asia’s largest ammunition and missile complex. This factory will produce different types of ammunition for the defence forces.
Adani is also planning to invest ₹1,000 crore in Telangana to set up counter-drone and missile facilities. Last year, they launched the Drishti 10, an advanced surveillance platform, and started missile production in Hyderabad.
The Adani Group collaborates with the Defence Research and Development Organisation on various projects, including naval anti-ship missiles. They are partnering with defence technology companies in the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Africa, and Southeast Asia to bring advanced technologies to India.
Adani plans to invest more in unmanned systems, small arms, and missiles, and is looking into making indigenous artillery guns. They also aim to set up maintenance, repair, and overhaul solutions in India.
