Copper-manufacturing

Adani Enterprises‘ subsidiary, Kutch Copper, has officially opened its advanced copper refinery in Mundra, Gujarat, marking Adani’s entry into the metals industry. This significant undertaking, backed by a substantial investment of USD 1.2 billion, represents the first phase of the project, which boasts a capacity of 0.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa).

Upon completion of the second phase, Kutch Copper is poised to become the world’s largest single-location custom smelter. This groundbreaking initiative is expected to establish new standards in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance, leveraging state-of-the-art technology and digitalization.

Importantly, the project is anticipated to create 2,000 direct jobs and 5,000 indirect job opportunities, thereby revitalizing local economies. Amidst the rising demand for copper fueled by the expanding sectors of renewable energy, electric vehicles, and infrastructure development, Adani’s foray into the metals sector takes on strategic importance.

Kutch Copper’s progressive integration approach encompasses Kutch Copper Tubes, which serve the needs of air conditioning and refrigeration sectors. Emphasizing its dedication to sustainable practices, the facility places a high priority on environmental stewardship, evident through the incorporation of green spaces, implementation of zero-liquid discharge techniques, and the utilization of desalinated water in its operations.
