Adani Energy Solutions (AESL) has been selected as the preferred bidder for a major transmission system project under the Rajasthan Part-I Power Transmission initiative, according to industry sources. Valued at approximately Rs 25,000 crore, this project is expected to be AESL’s largest order once formally awarded. As of September, AESL’s ongoing transmission projects were valued at Rs 27,300 crore, covering 12 projects, according to the company’s media release.
The winning bid, under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) process, pertains to an interstate transmission system (ISTS) named “Transmission system for evacuation of power from REZ in Rajasthan (20 Gw) under Phase-III Part-I,” which is part of the project SPV (special purpose vehicle) “Rajasthan Part-I Power Transmission Ltd.” The bid is a result of a re-tender process following the annulment of the original tender for undisclosed reasons.
Other qualified bidders included Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), Sterlite Power, and Indigrid, according to the REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL) website. The scope of the project includes the establishment of 6 GW HVDC (high-voltage direct current) terminal stations at Bhadla (Rajasthan) and Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh), along with transmission lines and associated AC network between the two locations.
AESL typically announces its project wins through exchanges upon the transfer of SPVs, with its most recent disclosure being in November. In that case, AESL entered into a share purchase agreement (SPA) with PFC Consulting Limited for the Pune-III Transmission, which aims to evacuate 7 GW of renewable energy from the Khavda RE Park under Phase-IV Part-D.
During a recent investor call, Kandarp Patel, CEO of AESL, expressed confidence in securing projects worth Rs 15,000-20,000 crore within the next six months, bolstered by a project pipeline valued at Rs 85,000 crore.
