Allied Blenders and Distillers Ltd (ABD), India’s leading domestic spirits company by volume, has officially opened a PET bottle production plant at its integrated facility in Rangapur, Telangana. With the ability to produce over 600 million bottles annually, this new unit will fulfill a large portion of ABD’s packaging demands and represents a significant move toward enhancing supply chain control and profitability.

The plant, developed with an investment of around ₹115 crore, allows ABD to produce PET bottles internally, reducing dependency on third-party suppliers, cutting transportation costs, and streamlining operations. Situated within the largest integrated alcoholic beverage facility in Telangana—which already includes an ENA distillery, an IMFL bottling unit, and the forthcoming Single Malt plant—the PET unit features state-of-the-art automation, robotic packaging systems, energy-efficient Japanese technology, and advanced recycling capabilities.

Commenting on the inauguration, Alok Gupta, Managing Director of ABD, said, “This facility underscores our commitment to an integrated manufacturing model. Utilizing our existing infrastructure helped us keep expenses down, speed up the setup process, and limit environmental impact. The advanced automation improves packaging control, supports our product range more effectively, and boosts overall operational efficiency.”

This addition is part of ABD’s larger backward integration strategy, a ₹525 crore initiative that also includes the new PET plant, India’s first single malt distillery in Rangapur, and expansion of the ENA distillery in Maharashtra. Together, these projects are projected to drive operational improvements and increase gross margins by approximately 300 basis points by fiscal year 2028.

ABD holds the position of India’s top domestic spirits company by volume, with a portfolio spanning whisky, brandy, rum, vodka, and gin. Popular brands under ABD include Officer’s Choice Whisky, Officer’s Choice Blue, Sterling Reserve Premium Whiskies, and ICONiQ White Whisky. Its manufacturing network comprises 37 units, including 9 owned bottling facilities, 2 owned distilleries, and 26 contract manufacturing locations.
