ABB has announced plans to acquire Sensorfact BV, a rapidly growing energy management company based in Utrecht, Netherlands. The deal, expected to close by Q1 2025, will bolster ABB’s digital energy management capabilities. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Founded in 2017, Sensorfact specializes in providing a scalable Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that utilizes AI to help small and medium-sized enterprises optimize energy use, reduce costs, and improve efficiency. The company operates with a team of over 250 employees across offices in Utrecht, Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Berlin, serving more than 1,900 customers across Europe.
Massimiliano Cifalitti, President of ABB’s Smart Power division, stated, “This acquisition aligns with ABB’s mission to deliver advanced energy solutions that combine AI and big data to enhance efficiency and operational performance. Together with Sensorfact, we aim to help businesses achieve greater energy efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance productivity while supporting sustainability goals.”
Sensorfact’s platform uses plug-and-play sensors that monitor machine-level energy consumption and connects to a smart software system. Its advanced algorithms identify energy-saving opportunities and provide actionable, tailored recommendations for each client.
