ABB has introduced a software-as-a-service (SaaS) version of its energy management and optimization platform, ABB Ability OPTIMAX 7.0, alongside enhancements to its advanced process control suite. The new cloud-based option enables industrial and energy operators to deploy, scale and manage optimization tools more flexibly across complex facilities.

With the SaaS model, ABB handles installation, system monitoring, updates and maintenance, allowing customers to use OPTIMAX without managing on-site infrastructure. The updated OPTIMAX platform now incorporates artificial intelligence forecasting to anticipate energy demand, generation levels and pricing trends. These capabilities support improved energy planning, more effective participation in energy markets and stronger grid compliance.

In parallel, the launch of ABB Ability Advanced Process Control 7.0 (APC) enhances real-time, closed-loop process management. Both OPTIMAX and APC are powered by Kubernetes, enabling automated deployment, scalability, security and high availability across edge, cloud or hybrid environments.

Accessible through a shared digital platform, the two solutions integrate securely with existing control systems. Together, they enable coordinated optimization of both energy and industrial processes while maintaining plant safety and reliability.

Gino Hernandez, Head of Global Digital Business at ABB’s Energy Industries division, commented “By expanding deployment options and strengthening AI-based capabilities, we are helping customers unlock greater efficiency through ABB’s digital technologies. These latest advancements support the transition toward increasingly autonomous industrial operations.” ABB will present updates to its energy and process optimization portfolio at the ARC Industry Forum 2026 in Orlando, Florida.

A global leader in electrification and automation, ABB combines engineering expertise with digital technologies to help industries improve performance, productivity and sustainability. With more than 140 years of history and approximately 110,000 employees worldwide, the company’s shares are listed on the SIX Swiss Exchange (ABBN) and Nasdaq Stockholm (ABB). Its Automation division supports process, hybrid and maritime industries in optimizing operations while improving environmental performance.
