ABB has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with HEMERIA, a French company known for its satellite platform solutions, to jointly explore new technologies aimed at improving space situational awareness (SSA). The agreement was formalized during the International Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, one of the key events for the global aerospace sector.
The collaboration will focus on evaluating how ABB’s advanced multispectral imaging systems can be integrated with HEMERIA’s satellite platforms. The goal is to support the development of systems that enhance the tracking and management of objects in orbit, contributing to safer and more efficient space operations.
ABB’s imaging technology is designed to identify and monitor objects in complex orbital environments, providing data that can support more informed decision-making for operators and space organizations. HEMERIA’s satellite platforms are known for their maneuverability, reliability, and ability to support a range of mission types.
“This partnership supports the development of safer space operations and more effective surveillance systems,” said Marc Corriveau, General Manager of ABB’s Measurement & Analytics division in Canada. “By combining our strengths, we hope to contribute to global efforts aimed at improving how activity in Earth’s orbit is monitored and managed.”
“We see ABB as a strong collaborator who shares our goals and vision,” said Nicolas Multan, CEO of HEMERIA. “Together, we plan to explore new technological paths in low Earth orbit that could advance the way space is observed.”
As satellite launches continue to increase, monitoring orbital traffic and avoiding collisions has become increasingly important. SSA plays a key role in ensuring long-term access to space by tracking debris and maintaining situational control over a growing number of space assets.
