ABB and its factory automation division, B&R Industrial Automation, will present integrated brewery and beverage solutions at drinktec 2025, the world’s leading trade fair for the beverage and liquid food industry. The event will be held from September 15 to 19 at Messe München, Germany, where visitors can explore how ABB and B&R technologies combine to enhance efficiency, quality, and sustainability across the full production cycle.
Covering process control, adaptive manufacturing, and digital optimization, ABB and B&R are introducing a single interoperable platform that helps producers improve safety, streamline quality control, and minimize resource usage. This approach increases operational flexibility, accelerates innovation, and supports more sustainable production in breweries and beverage plants.
At Booth 472/480 in Hall C5, attendees will experience solutions ranging from raw material conversion to filling and packaging lines, all within one connected automation ecosystem. Highlights include the ABB Ability™ BeerMaker, based on the System 800xA® distributed control system, and B&R’s adaptive packaging technologies that provide line flexibility and rapid changeover capability.
BeerMaker, a modular brewing solution, optimizes production by improving efficiency, reducing water and energy consumption, and ensuring consistent product quality. Its introduction at drinktec coincides with deployment in a South American brewery owned by a leading global producer, where it is being integrated into an existing System 800xA installation.
“By combining ABB and B&R technologies, we are showcasing complete coverage of brewery automation—from brewing to bottling—under one digital platform,” said Marcello Gulinelli, Global Head of Food & Beverage at ABB Process Industries. “This demonstrates our joint commitment to supporting producers with cleaner, leaner, and smarter operations.”
Live demonstrations such as the ABB Technology Experience: Mechanical Engineering & Industry (ATEMI) will show how ABB drive, safety, control, and visualization technologies connect seamlessly in an interactive display. B&R will also present adaptive automation systems including ACOPOStrak and ACOPOS 6D, which enable high-speed precision, personalization, and flexibility in packaging and logistics.
The joint showcase will also highlight Modular Type Package (MTP) concepts for faster engineering, along with digital enablers such as Energy Management Systems, Advanced Process Control, Knowledge Manager, and Connected Workforce tools—all designed to support smarter, more resilient, and sustainable beverage production.
