Over 800 professionals, researchers, and manufacturers in the field of orthotics and prosthetics from 28 states came together today at the Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) for the inauguration of OPAI MIDCON 2025. This event, organized by the Orthotics & Prosthetics Association of India (OPAI), aims to foster discussions on the latest advancements, materials, and technologies in the rehabilitation and assistive devices sector.
The conference includes a wide range of scientific sessions, featuring 93 paper presentations, 79 poster presentations, and an exhibition with 34 stalls showcasing the latest in prosthetics, orthotics, and assistive technologies. The two-day event was officially opened by notable dignitaries, including Dr Jitendra Sharma, Managing Director and Founder CEO of AMTZ; Shri Vikas Trivedi, Member Secretary of the Rehabilitation Council of India; Dr M.C. Das, National President of OPAI; Dr Aratatran Patra, Organizing Secretary of OPAI MIDCON 2025; and Dr Rupali Roy, Additional Director General at the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
Dr M.C. Das, National President of OPAI, emphasized the significance of the conference, calling it a crucial platform for driving innovation in the prosthetics and orthotics industry. “We are here at AMTZ, a hub of innovation and technology. This conference gives us the opportunity to highlight the groundbreaking work being done in our field, with a shared vision of innovation and progress,” he said.
Dr Jitendra Sharma spoke about AMTZ’s role in advancing medical technology. “AMTZ is the only facility that manufactures everything from masks to MRI machines. We have also established an artificial limb center to innovate and provide prosthetics and orthotics for people with disabilities. This conference aligns with our mission to lead advancements in assistive technology,” he said, urging participants to focus on areas such as new materials, emerging technologies, international standards, and crowdfunding for sector development. The conference will continue with in-depth discussions on new developments in orthotics and prosthetics, emerging technologies, and policy matters to strengthen India’s rehabilitation sector.
